## Neighborhood
London's hottest new neighbourhood has cleaned up its act and is becoming a hub for fashion and the arts, and some of the capital's more individual restaurants. This is not the standard urban development with the homogenised chains that usually brings; at least not yet. So far, a Victorian granary (and one-time rave venue) has been entirely transformed - an award-winning job by Stanton Williams Architects - into a new home for Central St Martin's college of fashion, where trailblazers put on graduate shows beneath its distressed-brick walls. And the former wasteland on the wrong side of the tracks has become the more welcoming Granary Square, filled with fountains and art students. Many of the old goods sheds, their original features and canopies retained, are pegged for further cultural uses, and for individual restaurants and bars. One of the first to open, in July, is Caravan. A sister of the original in Exmouth Market, inspired by the owners' travels around the world, the King's Cross outpost will be bigger still, with café seating out on the square.

## Transit
Getting to King's Cross couldn't be easier! King's Cross St Pancras links six London Underground lines with two national mainline train stations and international high speed rail. It's the best connected transport hub in London and the UK. The King’s Cross St Pancras transport hub links six London Underground lines with two national mainline rail stations and international high speed rail. And with Euston Station just a five minute walk away, the UK’s major cities are within easy reach. London’s five international airports are within an hour – with direct services to Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton. Add 14 bus lines and a bike interchange, and you have a location that’s unrivalled for connections – locally, nationally and internationally. Or perhaps drive yourself here. The Handyside Car Park is now open and 08.00-22.00, Monday to Sunday, making it so much easier to come by car. One of the aims of the plan for King’s Cross was to open up the area to the public after a long history of enclosure as Railway Lands. Large parts of the site are still under construction and access is restricted for safety reasons. But as areas of the development are completed, new routes open. This started with the opening of King’s Boulevard in 2011, and a new pedestrian bridge over the canal – the first of three new bridges. This route links Granary Square and York Way with the stations. Also at Granary Square, the canal-side steps are a new way to reach the Regent’s Canal towpath.
